Hello Class of 2017!


It is very important that you monitor your academic progress during the year. You may check your grades or e-mail a teacher by going to https://mths.schoolloop.com If you have concerns regarding a class, please contact the teacher. If you are in need of assistance, please email your counselor on School Loop.

 

Seniors must meet graduation requirements in order to participate in the graduation ceremony and receive a diploma in May of 2017.

 

Some of the requirements are:

1) Earn 220 credits

2) Pass all required subjects (you must pass the following courses: English 12, Government, Economics, Math and all other courses you are enrolled in)

3) Pass the technology and speech proficiencies

4) Pass 10 credits of math during the senior year

5. Pass 35 out of 40 credits in Terms 3 and 4

Senior Year Expectations


Seniors and Parents –

Many of you may find the next few months very stressful. We want to give you a heads-up about some help that is coming your way!

12th Grade College & Career Development Units are designed to help our seniors get through their final year of high school, and then on to where they want to be after graduation. The 12th Grade Unit is split into 3 days of instruction.

 

SENIORS WITH ENGLISH IN TERMS 1 & 3 SENIORS WITH ENGLISH IN TERMS 2 & 4

DAY 1 – Transcript Review

  • Complete review of your current transcript. 
  • Cover graduation requirements and an “a-g” review. 
  • Discuss the Senior Year timeline, letters of recommendation, and current scholarships.

DAY 2 – Post Secondary Options

  • Review/Discuss what you need to know for each post high school option, including full-time work, military, vocational/technical school, community college, and 4-year college/university. 
  • Cover all of the college application process, including online examples, fee waivers, personal insight questions, and letters of recommendation. 
  • Information for the Senior Year Timeline and current scholarships.

DAY 3 – Financial Aid

  • Full review of the Financial Aid process, including FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid), Cal Grants, Student Aid Reports (SAR), Expected Family Contribution (EFC), and financial aid award letters
  • Provide online examples, deadlines, and due dates.
  • Details of the Elk Grove Regional Scholarship Foundation application process

Letters of Recommendation


Do you need to request a letter of recommendation from a teacher or staff member ? Complete the Student Information Form and give a copy to the teacher/staff member at least 2 weeks before the recommendation is due!
